Our Programs are key to providing Bridge House Solutions
Working with Genesis, Bridge House participants
are encouraged to seek counciling as additional support. Pemi-Baker Literacy staff members like
Janet Cocchiaro are instrumental in training the
TBH staff to help participants follow through with
their GED certfication.
The BH Staff continues to add more programs to improve the quality of life of the participants through community outreach. This Spring they conducted a "Smoking Cessation" class to help those who would like to quit this destructive habit. Three BH participants recently attended an orientation at the Laconia Humane Society for future opportunities to volunteer at this facility and the BH staff is proactively on the lookout for other similar volunteer projects.
"Loving Your Family Feeding Their future" is the title of a 6 week program presented to TBH participants by Robin Peters, DTR. This program, sponsored by Nutrition Connections, UNH Cooperstive Extension, teaches healthy eating and food buying. Robin also meets with participants individually.
Our staff case worker and counselors help our
participants find solutions to daily life issues.
A healthy life style is encouraged as well as
training in budgeting, money handling, wise
shopping and many other daily tasks.
Job training is a very important part of the
Bridge House program. Volunteer David Lorch
regularly counsels participants on filling out job applications, compiling resumes, identifying their skills and gives them tips on employment
interviews. David helps participants evaluate their
own strengths to move forward. Many participants have successfully found jobs and kept them
Drug and alcohol counseling are key components of
the Bridge House "Solution". Partnering with Genesis
a mental health assessment is provided onsite at
The Bridge House for all new participants. The
Plymouth Medical Community also offers support
for many healthcare issues. AA is mandatory for
anyone with a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Our
staff partners with Genesis and Mid-State to follow-up
and monitors the progress of all participants
Parenting classes and staff interaction with the children are key factors in family success stories
at The Bridge House. Started in January '09, Parenting classes are sponsored by the Women’s Fund of NH and WLNH. This 6 month program
is held in The Whole Village Resource Center
and is well atended by parents living in the
Bridge House.
